On Sunday, October 29, as we announced in a previous news post, Active Life was part of the first international exchange event organized by Joso City Hall, along with other local companies and organizations.
The event took place in the brand new Michi no Eki, which is a convient roadside station with stores like Tsutaya. It was an excellent spot to gather the local community and the foreigners living in the city, with different cultural activities like world food, music and dance. Joso City Hall provided shuttle buses for the atendees.
Even though at the beginning it was raining, many people attended the event using their umbrellas and rain ponchos. Not even the heavy rain prevented everybody from being willing to enjoy and be part of the activities prepared for the occasion.
Active Life had a stand of table card games in English and Spanish, where the public was challenged to use their linguistics abilities. The games proposed by Active Life’s members were suitable for all levels and ages. Their experience in language teaching let them adapt the activity depending on the participants, so everybody could feel integrated.
There were not only kids playing in Active Life’s stand; the very first participants were adults willing to practice their English and Spanish skills while having fun. People even waited in a long line to be able to participate in the language games. Which ended up being an excellent cultural exchange activity, which everybody wanted to join until the end of the event.
Both the staff members and the general public had a great time. Other members collaborating with Active Life this time were the Embassy of Ecuador in Tokyo and Sekido, our regular collaborators in all our events. We are thankful to have such a support, which has proved to be of mutual benefit.
