ACTIVE LIFE IN YACHIKO TOWN’S MULTICULTURAL EVENT

In Yachiyo, a small town in Ibaraki prefecture, takes place a multicultural event every month organized by its municipality. In March, our founder, Tanya Saga, was invited to participate as a speaker, where she shared her experience in multicultural language and sports education through Active Life.

Every edition has representatives from different neighboring towns. This time, Tanya went on behalf of Joso City, and another female participant from Sri Lanka was representing Shimotsuma Town. The objectives of these meetings are to establish connections between nearby towns, create alliances to work together, integrate the international community, and share experiences.

This was the 15th meeting of this kind and took place at midday. So, at lunchtime, the attendees could taste foods prepared by residents from different countries like Holland, Japan, India, Sri Lanka, and Indonesia.

In this lively community, Japanese citizens and foreigners are highly motivated to share and bring everybody together, organizing this exchange event, language classes, and other seminars.

Residents and visitors can be part of this gathering by doing an easy registration by phone. Yachiko Town Hall also runs an Instagram account where they post information about all their activities.

Even though access to Yachiyo Town is not easy, residents and friends of the community collaborate and help each other, for example doing pool car, to ensure that everybody can get on time.
