Active Life Received a Recognition from the Government of Ecuador

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ecuador, through its Embassies around the world, gives recognition to Volunteer Ecuadorian organizations’ Leaders for their efforts to promote Ecuadorian citizens’ well-being and participation in the social life of the host community with different activities.

On April 18th, 2025, the Embassy of Ecuador in Japan called Tanya Saga, our Founder, to give her that recognition in the name of President Daniel Noboa and Chancellor Gabriela Sommerfield, for her hard work and dedication in creating Active Life Japan, a volunteer organization dedicated to strengthening ties between the foreign and the local community in Japan, through sports and language learning activities.

The small ceremony was held in the Embassy office in Tokyo, where Tanya received a certificate from Cesar Montaño, the Ambassador of Ecuador in Japan, who expressed his admiration and gratitude for Tanya’s achievements and perseverance.

Active Life Japan is a multicultural and multilingual organization founded by an Ecuadorian and based in Ibaraki, Japan. Its volunteer members are people from different parts of the world, most of them collaborate permanently organizing Active Life’s events and coordinating other activities, especially online language classes.

Among the members of Active Life, there are six Ecuadorians both living in Japan and Ecuador: Tanya (Founder), Pia Molina (Website and Blog), Valeria Gomez (Social Circus), and our teachers Karen Pullupaxi, Eliana Veloz, Daniel Zurita and Andres Barros. Members from other countries who are permantely collaborating as teachers and in different areas are: Joann Hayashi (The Phillipines), Naoko Hino (Japan), Kyoko Shibata (Japan), Monika Yamaguchi (Poland), Takeshi Irie (Japan).

Active Life Japan has been always keen to collaborate with the Ecuadorian Embassy and Sekido, the asociation of Ecuadorians in Japan, whose members had participated in various Active Life’s events teaching about the Ecuadorian culture and promoting different aspects of Ecuador. Furthermore, Active Life has also great relations with other Japanese groups and organizations and is willing to participate in more projects and events in the future.
