ACTIVE LIFE WILL PROMOTE ECUADORIAN FOOD IN USHIKU CITY

A group of volunteers of the Ushiku City International Association Cooking Division, in Ibaraki Prefecture, organizes an event called “The World Home Cooking” 世界家庭料理の会 (sekai katei ryori no kai), held two or three times a year since 1994. They promote it as an international exchange through food and, until now, had invited over 70 people from 38 different countries.

During these events, participants learn how to cook home food from the country of a foreign resident, who is the lecturer and introduces some of his or her hometown’s every day recipes. Also, there is a previous cooking trial to practice in advance.

Next month, on June 14th, they will have the “81st World Home Cooking Meeting—Ecuadorian Cuisine Edition,” where Tanya Saga, Active Life’s founder, will participate as a lecturer to share with locals about Ecuadorian cuisine and culture.

Even though this event is already full, there are opportunities to participate in future events held by the World Home Cooking Association, not only for Ushiku residents but also for people living in other Ibaraki cities. You can visit their website, where they explain their activities and extend an invitation for residents who want to join as volunteer members.

This association produces videos with the recipes presented by foreign lecturers that are available on their website and on Ushiku City International Association’s YouTube channel; you can find them here.
