While Tanya Saga, the founder of Active Life, was a student in Japan, she was training for the World Championship and working as an instructor in some local Kendo Dojos.
To contribute to her research about Kendo diffusion in South America, the Rotary Club in Kanoya supported her by organizing media interviews and collecting Kendo equipment to donate to Ecuador.
At the end of 2019, they collected over 33 complete equipment, uniforms, and accessories. All were sent to Ecuador by the Rotary Club in Kanoya, following the lema, “become an inspiration” and being a bridge that connects the two countries.
The equipment arrived during the first stages of the pandemic, so it was only used after the COVID-19 condition improved. The donated equipment was distributed in Ecuador, and new participants are now enjoying Kendo thanks to this project. We are thankful to the Rotary Club for supporting Tanya and her country!
